Easel Fold Card.

E
is for

EASEL CARD.

Version I

Uses one whole piece of  cardstock cut to 11" x 4.25". This is the easiest version to make .
Score card on long side at 2.75" and then at  5.5"
Tip. You can make any size easel card using this equation.
If your card stock is 12" long then you will  score at 3" and 6"
If your card stock is 10" long then you will score at 2.5" and 5"
If your card stock is  8" long then you will score at 2" and 4"
( The measurements quoted above will be the same for any width of card. )
You can also use a card blank. Simply fold the front of the card in half to make the easel shape.

Cut and trim panels to fit slightly smaller for the inside of card. You will need a raised section on the end panel to act as the door stop when the card is open.
Picture below shows a side view of the easel shape.
You can now decorate the front of the easel with a piece of cardstock that is 5.5" x 4.25" but remember to only adhere the bottom half of this card to the easel base.

Version II
This makes a double easel card.
Cut cardstock 11" x 8.25" and on long side score at 5.5"
Turn card so that the short side is at the top and mark at half way point. Cut to fold below. (Do not go past the fold line.)
Turn cardstock over and on the cut side of card mark at 2.75" and score both cut pieces.
You can now decorate as required.
Tip. Place one of the 'door stops' further  forward to give a staggered effect.

Version III

This makes a double twisted  easel card. It is not as difficult as it sounds.
Cut cardstock 8" square. Score at 4".
Turn card stock 90 degrees. Mark top edge at 4"

Use a craft knife, scissors or trimmer to cut from 4" mark down to score line. (Do not go past the score line).
Place card stock on the diagonal as shown below and put edge of card at 6" mark. Make sure the tip at the bottom is also lined up at the 6" mark. Score from tip to fold only on the 6" line.

Turn card and repeat with other corner.
You can now add the top panels which will be 4" square for each side.  When using design paper that has a uniform pattern  which way up the design goes will not matter. This card has been done with an
embossing folder and whilst the diamond design  will appear differently when standing up it will not look wrong.  Tip. Remember to only adhere ds tape to the bottom half of each square as shown below.
Tip .However when using a design which has a definite  right way up you need to be careful when adhering to the card front.  See below.
If you place the bird like this then
when you open the card to stand up the bird will be in the wrong position. Like this.
Picture needs to be adhered sideways so that the orientation is correct when card is opened up as below.
Bird is now the correct way up for display.

#117 Spin The Butterfly Wheel with the Letter A for Aperture.

Well here we are at the start of a brand new challenge. Little did I think back in 2014 that we would still be going and now we are about to enter Yr 6. Thank you all for playing along with the last challenge.  Winners results for #116 are published in the post below. Make sure you check back as it could be you.  Can I please ask that  Winners do acknowledge their prize in the comments on the Winners post as well as emailing their details to me. This way I will know to expect an email.  Please state if you are only playing for fun so that it gives someone else the chance to win.  Challenge is for 2 weeks.

So we have a brand new wheel to spin and this yr we are going to go straight through the letters of the Alphabet starting with A.

Come on in.

Lets Spin the Butterfly Wheel.
Each challenge will be a letter of the Alphabet with  a choice of 3 Colours and 2 Themes all beginning with the chosen letter.
New for this Yr. The 7th element of the wheel is a card shape.
(The diserning amongst you will notice that there is now an added page along the top under the Butterfly Banner called Card shapes.)
There will be a card shape for the letter being used for each challenge and I will be showing a tutorial on this page with hints and tips for making the cards.
The card shape is not mandatory but if you do use it you will qualify for the top prize without having to combine all of the other 6 elements onto your card. You must of course  use your butterfly.   The shapes will all be easy ones, just a different way to either fold or cut your basic cardbase.

If you don't want to use the card shape then
You can either choose a Theme or a Colour from the wheel + Butterfly  to be entered  for the 1st Prize.

If you use a Butterfly + a Theme + a Colour from the wheel then
you  will  be entered into the 2nd Prize.
Please state in your post which part of the wheel you are using to play with.
