F
is for
FLAP FOLD CARDS.
Version I
Uses one whole piece of cardstock cut to 11" x 6". This is the easiest version to make . On the long length score at 4.5" and then at 9". Fold on these score lines to form a flap card.
Decorate the inside of the card as required.
The front of the card can be held in place with an embellishment that is attached with 3D pads to give space for the flap to be tucked under as in the example below.
Version II
This is for a Diagonal Flap Fold
Uses one whole piece of cardstock cut to 8" x 11". You just need to score lines and one cut which will make you two card bases as shown below.
Score the 8" side at 4" and the 11" side at 5.5"
Place the cardstock diagonally on your trimmer (lining up on the cutting line ) and cut from point to point as shown.
You will now have two pieces as below.
Place one of the pieces back on your score board as shown below.
With the score line to the right bring the point over to straight edge on the left and fold.
Now repeat with the bottom flap .
Bring point up to the top and fold on the score line.
You will now have your base card ready to decorate.
Here is an example on how you can embellish.
Tip. By attaching the sentiment to the top panel it will help to weight the top down and hold the other flap in place.

Version III
This is for a Corner Flap fold
Cut cardstock to 8.5" x 5.5" and score at the 4.75" mark and fold on this line.
Place card in trimer as shown in picture. (I have orientated the trimer to make it easier to see.) Line up with the 3"mark at top of board.
On the cutting line cut from 5/8" down to the 3" mark and stop.
You now need to turn the card over to the inside and then turn the card round on the trimer as shown below.
Again line up with the 3"mark at top of board.
Again on the cutting line cut from 5/8" down to the 3" mark and stop.
You should now have a card which has 2 joining slits on the front of it as shown below.
Now take the top right edge of the front of the card
and fold down as shown below. (You will find the card is easy to bend into place)
Use a bone folder to crease the two small triangles either side of the cuts.
You can now go ahead and decorate. Tip. Use a small piece of ds tape or a glue dot to hold the edge of the flap down on the front of the card.
Here is an example on how you can embellish.

ReplyDeleteSo many ideas!!! Thanks for sharing all the measures.
ReplyDeleteOoh, these are fancy! I really like the diagonal fold, very effective. Also the first is very simple but makes a card a bit more special. Must try. X
