#124 Spin The Butterfly Wheel with H for Hinged Card.

We are now onto the 8th letter of the alphabet which is H. Winners results for #123 are in the post below. Make sure you check back as it could be you. Can I please ask that Winners do acknowledge their prize in the comments on the Winners post as well as emailing their details to me. This way I will know to expect an email. Please state if you are only playing for fun so that it gives someone else the chance to win.

Lets Spin the Butterfly Wheel.

Each challenge will be a letter of the Alphabet with a choice of 3 Colours and 2 Themes all beginning with the chosen letter.

New for this Yr. The 7th element of the wheel is a card shape.

(The discerning amongst you will notice that there is now an added page along the top under the Butterfly Banner called Card shapes.)

There will be a card shape for the letter being used for each challenge and I will be showing a tutorial on this page with hints and tips for making the cards.

The card shape is not mandatory but if you do use it you will qualify for the top prize without having to combine all of the other 6 elements onto your card. You must of course use your butterfly. The shapes will all be easy ones, just a different way to either fold or cut your basic cardbase.

If you don't want to use the card shape then

You can either choose a Theme or a Colour from the wheel + Butterfly to be entered for the 1st Prize.

If you use a Butterfly + a Theme + a Colour from the wheel then

you will be entered into the 2nd Prize.

So lets get started.

The wheel is

Hinged Card.

Your 6 elements are Hunters Green/Hot Pink/Heliotrope/Heat Embossed/Hexagons + your Butterfly.

n.b Heliotrope = purple.

Here is my inspiration for you.

First card uses Hinged fold/Hunters Green/Hot pink / Butterfly.

Second card uses Hinged card /Hot Pink/Heat Embossed/ Butterfly.

Third card is also a hinged card but uses a Hexagon die to make the card shape. Uses Hinged card /Hot Pink/Hunters green/Hexagons/ Butterfly.

Magic Window Card.

is for
MAGIC WINDOW CARD.

Version I

Start by cutting a base card shape from cardstock. Don't use a thick card (I have used 160gsm) or the card will not close and stay flat. Cut to 8" x 5" and score along the 8" side at 2" and 6". When folded this will give you a gate fold shape 4" x 5".

Make a pencil mark at 1" and 4" down each score line.

Cut to pieces of card stock 3" square and draw a pencil line across middle of each one at 1.5".

Make a mark on this line as shown below. Then draw two lines out from this mark to the corners.

Cut section marked #### away. Score quarter of an inch on opposite side and fold.

Cut a piece of cardstock 2.5" x 5". Draw a pencil line at 1.25" and 2.5" to find centre point of card.

7.
Use a circle die to cut a hole in centre of card.

8.
You should now have a piece of card as below. Remove pencil lines as these are not needed.

9.
Using d.s.tape or glue adhere the cut out panels to either side of the base gatefold card as shown below . Lining up carefully between the markers and the score lines.

10.
You should now have your base card looking like this .

From a contrasting colour, die cut a circle to fit under the diamond shape. Stamp with a sentiment of your choice.

12.
Make sure all of the wording can be seen when the card is open flat and adhere the circle with d.s. tape or glue.

Card should now look as shown here.

14.
Now take the piece of card with the die cut circle and place over the top of the diamond panels making sure that you have one diamond on top of the other (not entwined). Adhere this panel top and bottom to the back of the card base.

Now as you open and close the card up the sentiment appears as if by magic.

You can now decorate the front of the card to finish.

Lattice Card

LATTICE CARD.

Version I

This tutorial is for a very simple lattice card using a die cut frame and thin strips of cut card.

1.
Start by cutting a die frame. Here I have used a simple rectangle die cut from Crafts-Too. Then cut loads of strips from the same cardstock a quarter of an inch wide.

2.
Turn frame over to the wrong side and adhere ds tape to the frame . It helps to use a grid paper behind the frame. I have attached using washi tape to keep in place.

3.
Using the grid paper as a guide start laying the strips diagonally onto the frame. Start in the middle and work out to one edge.

4.
Continue with the rest of the strips until frame is filled.

5.
Now you need to place the strips going the other way by weaving over and under the strips already in place. Again start in the middle and work outwards to one edge.
