Spanner Panel Card

S
 is for
SPANNER PANEL CARD.

So called as a strip of card joins the two side panels together

This is a picture of a  finished card using the design instructions to make.
This version uses acetate as the spanner 'bridging'  the side panels together.

1.  Cut a piece of cardstock 11" x 6.5" and score at 5.5" along the 11" width.

2.  Fold cardstock in half to make a card 6.5" x 5.5" with the folded edge at the top.
Mark 1.25" in on both sides on the fold and draw a line to the bottom of the card. This is where you will make your cuts. N.b. on the front layer only!!) Use sissors or a trimmer to cut on the line drawn.

3. It is easier to build your card up from the base so open card up with the cut portions to the top and adhere a piece of cardstock to the base (making it just marginally smaller than 6.5" x 5.5"). Cut 2 side panels (1" x 5.25")  to decorate each side making sure that they can't be seen when the front cut panels are closed down on top.

4.  Decorate the middle space as required.

5.  Close the centre front of card down on top  and decorate. Here I have used design paper cut just marginally smaller than the 4" x 5.5" middle.

6.  You are now left with the two side panels that were cut at the 1.25" mark. These will now be joined with a strip of card (here I have used a strip of acetate) to make the front of the card.  My strip measures 5.5" x 1.25". Adhere to the front before decorating the side panels as this will give a neat tidy finish to your card.

7.  Cut side panels in design paper to fit and decorate as required.  Here I have used
a butterfly die cut  swirl and attached to the acetate at the bottom and on the side panel. The opposite side panel has been decorated with 3 individual butterfly die cuts.  Card is now complete.

8.  Lift the completed front panel up to reveal the middle section which in turn lifts up to reveal the back section.

Completed card folded down flat for posting.

#169 Spin The Butterfly Wheel with F for Floating Strip Card.

The Butterflies are back with another card shape for you.
Whilst I do have lots of new card shapes to try I don't have one to use for each letter of the Alphabet so this time round we are going Random and some letters will be used more than once and in any order!

The next letter out of the Tea cup is
the letter
F
Come on in.
Lets Spin the Butterfly Wheel.

Each challenge will be a letter of the Alphabet with a new  choice of 4 Colours , 1 Theme and a specified Card shape all beginning with the chosen letter.

As before I will be showing a tutorial for each of the card shapes.
A link to the tutorial page is shown above under the banner heading. Just click on the Card Shapes tab and you will be taken to a drop down list of all the past and present card tutorials.

You must of course use a butterfly on your entry but there are now two categories for you to choose from.

1.    Make any  card using at least 2 of the colours on the wheel +butterfly.

     2.    Make a card using the Card Shape +any 2 of the colours + the theme +butterfly.

There will be a prize for each category.

Please state in your post which part of the wheel you are using to play with.

There will be a special prize draw for using all elements on the wheel.

So lets get started.

The wheel is
F
and

Floating Strip Card.

If using card stock for your card then there is just the one fold to make
or
if using a cardblank then none at all.
Can't complain at that!

These are the four colours to choose from.

The theme is Flowers.

Please state the elements of Your Choice.

Here is my inspiration for you.
